Yesterday there was about 6-8 inches of new snow throughout the day.
Starting in the evening there was no percipitation and things have
remained calm. the temp this morning was in the the high teens...

Roads were pretty bare this morning.

Last night after returning home since mon morning, it was evident thar 12+ inches of snow had fallen. Over night there was 3-4 inches of new snow and it appeared that it had rained after that. The temp was sitting at 32.

It started to drizzle / rain last night but does not appear to have lasted long.

We had 74-78 inches of new snow the last seven days.

My thermometer appears broken so no updated temp today....

We are certainly making up for the lack of snow. It's been snowing hard all night. Easily 6-9 inches of new snow. Current temp is 29.2f

Perhaps 4-6 inches of snow overnight with an unknown amount during the day yesterday. Currently it is 21.2 f and snowing lightlly.

Most federal offices are closed today so I am headed out to enjoy the snow!

The snow is coming down hard. There was 12 inches of snow yesterday through the evening and another 18 inches over night. The temp is in the mid 20's and the snow is light and fluffy.

Backcountry Film Festival on November 18, 2012 & January 20, 2012

If the thought of La Nina returning for a second year to grace us with her wintery presence isn’t enough, the folks at Winter Wildlands Alliance have a sure-fire way to get you excited about winter. The Winter Wildlands Alliance Backcountry Film Festival makes its world premiere 11-11-11. And whether you are a fan of the backcountry, sidecountry, the Nordic trails or simply hot chocolate by the fire, you won’t want to miss this celebration of the winter experience. If you haven’t been before, you are in for a treat – the raffle is awesome, the beer is cold, puffy jackets run amok, and the films are as diverse as an Idaho landscape.

The seventh annual world tour of the Winter Wildlands Alliance Backcountry Film Festival highlights the beauty and fun of the winter backcountry experience. Submissions come from renowned filmmakers who travel every corner of the globe to submit their best backcountry work, and from grassroots filmmakers who take a video camera out on their weekend excursions and submit their best film short. The films are juried by a select panel of judges and the top films are assembled into a 90 minute program.

The festival was created to highlight Winter Wildlands Alliance’s efforts to preserve and conserve winter landscapes for quiet users. The festival travels to more than 75 communities throughout the United States, and then overseas to Antarctica, Europe Australia and Asia. Funds raised stay in local communities to support local human-powered recreation efforts and to raise awareness of winter management issues, avalanche training/ safety and winter education programs.

This year’s program includes nine different films including festival award winners “Solitaire” (festival cut) from Sweetgrass Productions, voted Best of Festival. Two years in the making, this film from the wilderness of South America is worth the wait. The Best Short award goes to “Chalk and Ski.” Produced by Chris Dicky and Purple Orange LLC, it’s a chalk-in-hand daydream about skiing and winter. And the Best of the Backcountry award goes to a “Breaking Trail” (festival cut) from Powderwhore Productions. Known for their amazing ability to capture deep powder and fresh lines, brothers Noah and Jonah Howell remind us why we venture into the backcountry.
